MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Myrtle Beach is one of the top three best places to start a business in South Carolina, according to data gathered from the personal finance website NerdWallet.com.

The area was recognized for catering to the influx of tourists by offering the most businesses per 100 people in the state, which is four times the national average. The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation were also cited for offering a variety of business incentives and development programs.

The city of Georgetown also made the site's top 10 list.

"New business owners looking to get their company off the ground, or established firms that are planning to expand, can find everything they need for success here in the Myrtle Beach area," said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. "Our community offers great tax incentives and a wealth of support programs, in addition to affordable health care, quality schools and a wealth of attractions and activities for business CEOs as well their families and clients. To reach their conclusions, NerdWallet examined 61 places with 500-plus businesses throughout South Carolina. Factors like business climate and local economic health were analyzed.
