MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Charlotte native Mike Anderson will be working with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce/Convention and Visitors Bureau in the area of sports tourism and marketing.

A 1992 graduate of North Carolina State University, Anderson comes to the Myrtle Beach area from Charlotte, N.C., where he worked for 12 years - from 2002 to 2014 - as the director of sports for Visit Charlotte.

Additionally, Anderson served as the secretary for the National Association of Sports Commission Board of Directors and the chairman for the North Carolina Sports Association.

Anderson will fill a void left by former sports sales manager Mark Beale, who is now working as the marketing manager for the upcoming Myrtle Beach Sports Center.

"Mike brings a wealth of experience in the field of sports tourism to the Myrtle Beach CVB, and we are thrilled that he is joining our team," said Danna Lilly, director of group sales. "The continued growth of sports tourism in the Myrtle Beach area is undeniable, and having Mike's expertise will only help us in continuing to position ourselves as not only a fantastic beach destination, but also a world-class sports tourism destination."
