Following the passing of former state Sen. Dick Elliott on June 7, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:

“We are saddened by the passing of Sen. Dick Elliott. His many years of service to both the Myrtle Beach area and South Carolina left an indelible mark that will not soon be forgotten. His work to improve infrastructure along the Grand Strand was especially important for an area whose primary industry is tourism. Also, he was wonderful friend and advocate for the business community, something he understood quite well as a business owner himself. These were just small parts of his lasting legacy from 30 years in public office. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
