Following the announcement that the city of Myrtle Beach will look into concept of a Product Development Initiative that will be used to improve and update infrastructure, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:

"We applaud city of Myrtle Beach leaders as they consider a bold, dynamic plan of investing in our public infrastructure. Investments in our community's infrastructure will create jobs, spur economic growth and enhance the quality of life for residents who call the area home. The city of Myrtle Beach has had a number of past successes with infrastructure improvements and updates, such as the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and the redevelopment of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base into The Market Common. We are encouraged by this aggressive growth plan, and believe it could set the Myrtle Beach area on a new, exciting trajectory."
