MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Basketball excitement is stirring up again in the Myrtle Beach area as media day for the 2013-2014 Big South Conference season quickly approaches.
This year's gathering of coaches will be Oct. 24 at the Sheraton Hotel next door to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, at 2101 N. Oak St., in Myrtle Beach. The media day luncheon is from 12 to 1:30 p.m., followed by print and electronic media interviews from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
All local media are invited to turn out and pose their questions to the coaches about what to expect from the upcoming season, as well as the 2014 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Basketball Championship. Attendees are reminded not to forget their media gifts as they leave.
Those in the media who plan to attend are asked to RSVP no later than Friday, Oct. 18, 2013.
This is the second year the Big South Championship will be played at Coastal Carolina University's HTC Center, as part of a three-year contract with the conference. The 2014 championship is schedule for March 4 through March 9, 2014.
"It's great to have all the coaches from the Big South Conference back in Myrtle Beach to get the excitement ramped up for the upcoming season, as well as the conference tournament next spring," said Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. "March Madness is such a fun time of year for hoops fans all across the country, and we here in the Myrtle Beach area are thrilled that, for the second year in a row, we're a part of the game."
The 2013 Big South Championship brought in approximately 26,336 basketball fans over five days of hoops action along the Grand Strand.
