MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The holiday spirit is alive and well with the 8th Annual Substitutes for Santa community service event.

Sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce's gsSCENE for Young Professionals, this event is giving 67 underprivileged Loris area children a shopping experience to brighten their holidays. It is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Each volunteer will be paired up with one child for the evening, which begins with dinner at Ultimate California Pizza Game Zone, located at 959 Lake Arrowhead Road in Myrtle Beach. Restaurant managers will also be on hand to make a sizable contribution to Substitutes for Santa.

The event continues with a shopping spree at Walmart, where the volunteer will assist their child in picking toys and other items on their wish lists.
