MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Donald C. Hovis, Jr., marketing manager for Springmaid Beach Resort, was chosen as the 2013 gsSCENE Young Professional of the Year.
The selection was made at a reception held Thursday, October 17, at the Myrtle Beach Train Depot.
Hovis was one of three finalists up for the title of Young Professional of the Year. The award honors a person who has demonstrated community involvement, an aspiration to succeed in the workforce, a desire to positively impact the Grand Strand and been a true advocate of gsSCENE.
The two other finalists were Madeline Condron, with American Hotel Register Company, and Bobbei Seay, with Carolina Comedy Club, One Stop Party Shop and Karma.
"These three finalists represented once again the positive impact our young professionals are having along the Grand Strand," said Shannon Furtick, gsSCENE liaison and membership programs manager for the MBACC. "I want to congratulate Donald and the other nominees for all their contributions to the Myrtle Beach community, to their professions and to bettering themselves both personally and professionally. We're very proud of all you've accomplished."
