MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Eighth Annual Youth Leadership Academy is scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2015, at Coastal Carolina University's Wheelwright Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For the first time, YLA and Leadership Grand Strand will be partnering with the Jefferson Awards Foundation to bring their flagship youth service program Students in Action to the NESA-region high schools. Students in Action (SIA) aim to teach high school student groups the importance of leadership, engagement, and impact through a focus on service and volunteerism.

This year's YLA theme is #act2impact. Students from grades 9-12 from 30 high schools in the NESA region will participate in this one-day leadership conference.

The students will take part in hands-on activities that focus on team building, self-awareness, values, communication and ways to get involved in their respective communities.

In addition, the students will hear from several local leaders.

With the help of the current Leadership Grand Strand class, this event annually draws over 400 students and 70 facilitators.
