The National Retired Military Golf Classic has been held annually in Myrtle Beach, SC to provide an opportunity for retired military personnel and their spouses to form new friendships with fellow retirees and participate in a golf tournament aimed at providing great camaraderie, comradeship, and friendly competition.  The NRMGC provides a unique opportunity for the area to recognize up to 1,000 retired military golfers who collectively represent at least 20,000 years of military service to the country.  Annually a portion of the proceeds from the NRMGC are donated to the Fisher House Foundation, which provides support and housing to families visiting wounded service members in military medical facilities around the world.  To date, the NRGGC donation is over $50,000. 


The National Retired Military Golf Classic (NRMGC), the largest retired military golf tournament in the world, is held annually in Myrtle Beach, SC during Memorial Day week.  The 33rd annual NRMGC will be held May 31 through June 4, 2016.  All players must be retired military members of any branch of the uniformed services and/or their spouses.  For this first time the 2016 the  tournament will be played with all rounds shotgun start at 8:00 am and will be held on at least  6 courses for the men and a 7th for the women.  The ladies will still play 3 different courses.  The 2016 tournament will be played at the Myrtle Beach National Golf Club South Creek and West,  Pine Lakes, Burning Ridge, Pine Hills at Myrtlewood CC, Wild Wing Resort, and The World Tour.  The tournaments are four person scrambles of four flights (A, B, C, and D players).  The men’s event consists of 72 holes over 4 days rotating foursomes from each of the 4 flights (A, B, C, and D players) and courses each day while the women play a 54 hole competition over 3 days with foursomes rotating each day.  Entry fees for the tournament are $325.00 for men and $280.00 for women.  The entry fee covers all golf, carts, awards, prizes and special drawings as well as a quality golf shirt, hat for the men and visor for the ladies, towel, mulligans for each day, a $22 meal gift certificate or ticket to the Alabama Theatre and an ice breaker with free food and drinks hosted by Oceana Resorts, tournament supporter, at the Bay Watch Resort which serves as the tournament headquarters


30 places in each flight are awarded prizes and gift certificates in the men’s tournament (a total of 120 winners) and 8 places in each flight in the women’s tournament (a total of 32 winners).  Over 350 random drawings are conducted during the tournament for a total of over $20,000 in gift certificates.  A $100 prize is given for closest to the pin on every par 3 hole every day for a total of over $10,000 during the course of the tournament.  There are also numerous other prizes awarded during the tournament.
