While on vacation in Myrtle Beach, stretch your vacation dollar to the max. From free events such as concerts and firework shows to a relaxing game of miniature golf, there are dozens of ways for a family of four (2 adults, 2 children under 12) to have four or five hours of fun for less than $25!
Here are ten favorites from locals to get you started:
- Open air concerts: Music is the universal language of the world and what better way to enjoy blues, country, rock or the oldies than in a lawn chair taking in the fresh open air. View the Summer Sun Fun Festival Concert Line-up and select from over 30 free concerts this summer being held Lakeside in Grand Park (at the former Air Force Base) or Plyler Park in Downtown Myrtle Beach.
- Miniature Golf: Known as the mini golf capital of the world, there are over fifty themed miniature golf courses along the Grand Strand with excitement at every hole. Full price adult tickets generally average around $8 and $6 for kids. Tip: Check the local coupon books and find coupons for a dollar or two off if you hit the course before 6PM. Children 2 and under are free at most establishments.
- Tuesday Fireworks by Grucci at Broadway at the Beach: 10pm fireworks over Lake Broadway every Tuesday all summer long. The fireworks are free but for $25 you can grab a Rita's Water Ice, a funnel cake, your Starbucks favorite or enjoy a few rides at Pavilion Nostalgia Park.
- Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk – Visit the historic fishing village of Murrells Inlet and experience nature along The Marsh Walk which offers great views of the saltwater marsh, birds and beautiful scenery. Home to many waterfront restaurants, music is the air once evening rolls around. The Marsh Walk is free to enjoy and with $25 a few appetizers such as bacon cheese fries and wings along with a few drinks will keep everyone happy.
- Shelling at Myrtle Beach State Park – Awesome shells, shark teeth, and more await at this local favorite. Enjoy a wide beach, nature trails a fishing pier and more. Admission is $5 per adult (16 and up), $3 per child (6 -15) and senior citizens and special needs individuals are $3.25. Pack a picnic, beach pail and shovel and spend the evening.
- 25¢ Bowling: A great way to start the day or get out of the heat in the early afternoon is to head to Waccamaw Bowling and take advantage of their summer weekly specials. From your $25, two adult and two kid's shoe rentals will set you back $10, leaving you with 60 quarters to bowl as many games as you can!
- Tuesday at Beef O Brady's: Get a free kids meal with each adult entrée on Tuesday evenings. $25 will easily get you a booth for four, two adult entries from a wide selection of burgers, wraps and sandwiches, free kids meals and drinks. Located at 501 and Carolina Forest Blvd. in the Kroeger Shopping center.
- Souvenir Shopping at Hudson's Surfside Flea Market at 1040 South Kings Highway in Surfside Beach: Over 250 dealers make this a popular choice for both new and used merchandise. Find Myrtle Beach souvenirs including T-Shirts, hats and more at some of the lowest prices on the Strand. Open Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 7AM until dark.
- Movies at Carmike Cinema: Head to the southeast end of Broadway at the Beach for a summer blockbuster matinee. It's only $5.00 per ticket for the Super Bargain Last Matinee.
- Live Bands at The Pier at Garden City Beach: Every night from 8:30-11PM, all summer long, enjoy live music and the ocean breeze at Garden City Beach Pier. Grab a bite at the pier café, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
