How would you like to work at some of the most fun festivals in the Carolinas and get college credit for it too? The Festivals and Special Events Division of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, located on Oak Street in the heart of Myrtle Beach, offers internship opportunities throughout the year for enthusiastic and hardworking students interested in learning how to coordinate and produce major festivals and events. Interns will have the ability to be involved with the entire workings of how a festival or event is produced from the beginning stages of coordination, the hands on production during the festival, and conclusion and evaluation period.
The Festivals and Special Events Division produces the following events throughout the year:
- 47th Annual Canadian-American Days Festival: March 13 - 21, 2010
- The 57th Annual Sun Fun Festival: June 4 - 8, 2009
- Sun Fun Summer Concert Series: Saturday, June 13 to August 22, 2009
- 3rd Annual Beach, Boogie and Barbeque Festival: September 4 & 5, 2009
- Christmas Towne: TBD
- Military Band Concerts throughout the yea : March 1 and March 11
The Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization. Therefore, Festivals and Special Events Division interns are not paid, but can receive college credit for their experience. Internships are on a part-time or full-time basis but with a minimum of 20 hours a week.
If you are interested in internship opportunities, you must meet the following requirements below:
- A third or fourth year student who is currently enrolled in a college or university, or someone who has recently graduated in the last 6 months
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater
- Be available for an internship period of at least three months
- Have a reliable mode of transportation
